Sixty-Three Organizations Funding Both Sides of the Aisle
The Durango Herald reports that 63 organizations are funding candidates on both sides of the aisle in the battle for control of Colorado’s General Assembly. This naturally raises the question: What do these organizations hope to gain in return? These organizations include JP Morgan Chase, Pfizer, Apollo Group (University of Phoenix), MillerCoors, Microsoft, Wal-Mart, Colorado Mining Association, Encana, Xcel Energy, and Waste Management to name a few.
The article has an interesting quote from Colorado State University professor of political science John Straayer,
I don’t think you could buy a legislator but you can buy a Legislature. That’s what we’re seeing here.
