Tuesday night’s presidential election wasn’t nearly as close as many predicted with the election being called for President Obama relatively early.
In addition to re-electing President Obama, Colorado Democrats had a huge night as they took back control of the State House and maintained control of the State Senate. Colorado Democrats now control both the State executive and legislative branches, which will give them more power to push a more progressive legislative agenda.
Coloradans also voted to legalize the recreational use of marijuana. It is widely expected that the Justice Department will complicate the implementation of Amendment 64 as the federal government officially considers marijuana a Schedule I controlled substance.
