Colorado Gives Day Brings in $15 Million

The Community First Foundation, organizers of Colorado Gives Day, report that Colorado Gives Day 2012 raised approximately $15 million for Colorado’s nonprofits. The press release states this is a 20% increase in total dollars raised from last year. The total number of donations increased by 30% over last year growing from 52,226 in 2011 to approximately 68,000 in 2012. More from the press release:

“Once again, Coloradans demonstrate amazing generosity and the passion to ‘Give where you live,’” said Marla J. Williams, president and CEO of Community First Foundation. “I am awed by what happens when the community comes together—because it takes a community-wide effort to create this level of success.”

Did you miss your opportunity to donate on Colorado Gives Day? You can still use the GivingFirst.org website to find local nonprofits and even make donations. If you donate to an organization in the seven-county Denver metro area, the bank processing fees for the first $50,000 in donations (per organization each year) are covered by the Community First Foundation. A 2.9% processing fee is applied to other donations (these fees don’t apply on Colorado Gives Day).
